Birthday November 4th, 2010

You had a few visitors while we were in the hospital for less than 24 hours. Jeni Romney, Laurice Romney and Aurora Feste came to meet you in the hospital.

Baby Ada

 Adalyn Aspen Hatch
 Daddy and Adalyn
 Born November 4th at 7:35pm. 7 lbs. 4 oz. 20 inches long.
Before you were born your Grandma Udall was praying about what day she needed to fly to Mexico to be with us. She got a strong impression to come on the 4th of November even though I wasn't due until the 10th of November. She was definitely inspired to be here the day you were born. How lucky you are to have such a righteous Grandma.  The day you were born your father had to leave for El Paso, TX (a 3hour drive) to pickup Grandma Udall. Your Grandma and Grandpa Hatch had to leave for Mesa, AZ (a 7hour drive) to help Uncle Berkley move. Your doctor was out of town for a convention and I was left alone.
I had been having contractions all night long but they were not consistent. I did wake-up your Dad to take me to the hospital but once I started to time them I realized they weren't close enough together. Dad asked if he should still go to El Paso and I said it should be fine. I had several people offer to step in and help if needed be so I sent your dad off to pick up Grandma Udall and Aunt Louisa.
That morning was a busy one. I had to attend Tori's school play, take Benton to "Happiness School" and Alex and I cleaned up the house to get ready for baby. By lunch time I was having some strong contractions and they were about 20 minutes apart. I tried to take a nap but every time I had a contraction it woke me up.
At 3:30pm I had to pick up Tori from school and I decided that I needed a back-up plan NOW. I called Garrett and he said he was about 2 hours away. I thought I could hold on. Aunt Carol came over to deliver a baby blanket and offered to take Tori to her school play that evening and Uncle Fred said he would drive me to the hospital. I was about ready to take them up on that offer when I found out that Garrett was only 45 minutes away. By this time my contractions were 10 minutes apart.
Garrett and Grandma Udall and Aunt Louisa pulled into the driveway at 6:00pm. We unloaded the car and then I jumped in to head to the hospital. I was hoping my mom would do okay. It was her first time in our new home and she had to drive Tori to her school play, put all 3 kids to bed and then take Tori to school in the morning. I didn't get much time to explain anything to her so I left it in Tori's hands to show her where everything was.
On the way to the hospital we stopped to get gas and your dad asked me if I was really in labor. I wanted to slug him! By the time we got the the hospital it was 6:30pm and I was having contractions every 5 minutes. We waited for the on-call doctor to show up and he checked me. I was dilated to a 5 so he called the anesthesiologist.  We were on our way to have this baby.
I got hooked up to the epidural and was still feeling the contractions, hoping it would kick in before I delivered you. The doctor told me to push when I had the urge to. I pushed twice, they put my legs in the stirrups and then I had one final urge to push. The doctor turned around, from putting on his gloves, and jumped in to catch baby Ada coming out. It took one good push and you were born at 7:35pm. We barely made it in time. You started crying immediately and your eyes were wide open. You were healthy and strong.
While I was delivering you the power went out in Colonial Juarez and your other siblings were left alone in the dark with Grandma Udall. Uncle Fred came over to offer flashlights. It was a memorable night.
When you turned 1 week my good friend Jen Whetten offered to take your pictures. These are from her photo shoot. They turned out beautiful, just like you.
